Join the Reading Group

If you really enjoy getting into a good book, and then sharing ideas and comments, come along to the Book Reading Group at the Library. The group meets monthly on a Wednesday morning from 10-12 and begins with a friendly cuppa. Facilitator Maryanne Davidson then gets the lively, sometimes hilarious, sometimes serious conversation going about the book which all the participants have read in the previous month.

Titles discussed so far include:
The da Vinci Code / Dan Brown
Wild Swans /Jung Chang
Mao's Last Dancer / Li Cunxin
Life and Death in Shanghai / Nien Cheng
Barra Creek / Di Morrissey

WHACK

Whack, Whack, Whack!!

That's the acronym for our library holiday writing activities for kids this Christmas holidays - Writing Holiday Activities for Chinchilla Kids! A storyboard has been set up in the children's area to motivate kids to think like writers and show them how to develop the story.

The story can be about anything, although it must contain:
There are great cash prizes, courtesy of Chinchilla Security Services, so check out the storyboard, sharpen your pencils, and get cracking. Prizes will be presented at the Australia Day ceremony at the Chinchilla Museum in January.
